Our Story

We started our journey not knowing where it would lead us…

It all began in 2014 with a magical invitation from land near Mount Shasta. Hestia Magic’s co-founders, Belinda and Peter, fell in love with the smell of the cedar and pine, the vibrant creek flowing through the land, the grounding force of the volcanic serpentine rocks, and the coziness of the A-frame house.

Over the years, the land taught them how to flow with nature’s rhythms, listen to the calling of their souls, live more simply and tend to the land like a sacred, cherished friendship.

HESTIA’S HIStory

The unfolding…

20,000 years ago

Majestic Mount Shasta was formed, bringing grounding and transformational energy from deep within the earth’s surface. In later years, Mt. Shasta would be identified as the root chakra of the earth.

7,000 years ago

Native peoples begin to settle around the mountain. The Karuk and Shasta peoples are drawn to a beautiful canyon northwest of the mountain. There, they find a red spring and a white spring and revere them both for their healing powers. All tribes are welcome to receive healing from these waters.

2014

Belinda and Peter discover magical land near these sacred springs. The land asks them to become her stewards, and they accept. Belinda and Peter name the land “Hestia” after the Greek goddess of the hearth, community, and family.

2015

Belinda and Peter grow into their stewardship through listening to and connecting with the land. One message they receive is to create a labyrinth where people can journey to their own center and back again out into the world.

2016-2017

Hestia draws more and more guests to experience her magic. The creek, trees, and closeness to nature’s wildness help many to transform in a deep, unexpected way. Belinda and Peter nurture the power of the land by creating a healing meditation garden and building a creek-side eco-cabin for personal retreating.

2018

Hestia and her community continue to expand. She gives birth to the 30-foot mama yurt and the 22-foot Mongolian spaceship temple yurt donated by a community member. The land even plays host to Belinda and Peter’s wedding celebration where the community were able to donate to the construction of the mama yurt, the gathering place for the celebration.

2019

The founding friends of the Hestia community form to grow and cultivate the community as it expands. Belinda connects the unique energy points on the land, each offering different healing potential. These points become Hestia’s “chakra walk” and allow guests to connect deeply with the land and themselves to guide them on their personal journeys.

2020-BEYOND!

Hestia grows into a refuge and growing network for spiritual seekers, leaders, healers and community builders to rejuvenate and gather. 4 new 20-foot yurts and outdoor bathrooms are added to prepare for year-round nature sabbaticals and residencies where visionaries can foster new models of living, working, communing and stewarding land.

Hestia is the Greek Goddess of the sacred fire, hearth and home. She represents the center of our inner and outer worlds.

Hestia gives us security, peace, and comfort in our home and community. She helps us access our inner wisdom and accept the truth of our lives with grace.
